The Lighthouse Center is fortunate to be hosting Pramoda Chitrabhanu at the Center for 3 days beginning August 2nd through August 4th. She was married to the former Jain monk Gurudev Shri Chitrabhanu for 48 years and together they raised 2 boys. They travelled the world bringing the fresh and often new message of ahinsa, non-violence, in thoughts, words and actions, to mainstream audiences world wide.
Pramoda’s main interest is teaching and helping put the philosophy of Ahinsa in to every day practice. She has dedicated her life to nonviolence including animal welfare and vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. It is this interest that has inspired Pramoda to spread the message of non-violence to many parts of the world and is often why she is called “A Global Personage.”
Pramoda is particularly interested in education, philanthropy, women’s welfare and animal welfare. She holds positions of inspiration and responsibility in many humanitarian organizations including:
PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
Beauty Without Cruelty Cosmetics and Skin Care
Jain Meditation International Center
JAINA – Jain Association in North America
