By becoming a member of the Lighthouse Center, you are helping support a meditation community. Meditation is a crucial aspect of one’s spiritual journey. While prayer is considered “talking to God”, in meditation one can attune oneself to “listen to God” and hear relevant messages from the Universal Intelligence/Cosmic Consciousness. While meditating in a group, one usually discovers that the Light and Spiritual Energies are magnified exponentially. Thus, one is able to have a deeper meditation experience. As stated in the Christian Bible, “where two or more of you shall gather in my Name, I will be there amongst you” (Matthew 18:20).
From the Bhagavad Gita, chapter 6: When meditation is mastered, the mind is unwavering like the flame of a lamp in a windless place. In the still mind, in the depths of meditation, the Self reveals itself. Beholding the Self by means of the Self, an aspirant knows the joy and peace of complete fulfillment. Having attained that abiding joy beyond the senses, revealed in the still mind, they never swerve from the eternal truth.
Paramhansa Yogananda (who worked to unite Eastern and Western spirituality) stated that: “Meditation is the highest form of activity humankind can perform.”
Modern contemplative Christianity has also embraced meditation as a core practice for humanity, helping one to center oneself while releasing stress and unhealthy karmic patterns.
A meditation community also serves as a wonderful supportive environment to help each other grow spiritually. As we work, play and meditate together, we serve as a catalyst for each other to continuously evolve and refine ourselves in God’s Light. As Ram Dass said, We are all just walking each other Home....
